Methodology Patterns
From Mp
Methodology Patterns represent related principles, parameters, and practices that act as a whole to be applied to a particular Methodology Design.
See Category:Patterns for a library of methodology patterns.
Structural Patterns
Structural patterns revolve around The Core Process by modifying the flow of work through and around the underlying aspects. For example, the pattern may adjust how many times through The Core Process a methodology is expected go. It may adjust how much of each aspect is to be completed prior to starting the next one.
Ultimately, these structural patterns are necessary for designing an overall methodology, as other practice patterns must sit on top of The Core Process in some way. Think of these patterns as the backbone of the methodology, with the practices representing the muscle needed to move the entire body.

Practice Patterns
Practice patterns represent sets of related practices that tend to work well together. They are not intended to define an entire methodology, but are more like puzzle pieces that are put together with other practice patterns to create an overall picture of the methodology.

Pattern Design
When defining a pattern, it's important to keep it fairly simple, especially for structural patterns. Practice patterns should have a minimum number of practices associated with them, and should be easy to integrate with other practice patterns.
