Since The Core Process defines the basic model of all methodologies, patterns defined around this model are considered structural patterns. All methodologies use at least one structural pattern (typically, they use only one, but it's possible to use more than one when a project is broken up across "sub-methodologies").

Since these patterns act as a basis for a methodology, they are extremely important to understand. Fortunately, there aren't that many of them, since there are only so many ways to move the three core aspects around.
