Practices represent work that is performed by a project team during software development. It may involve a simple process, a usage of a tool, or even a daily activity. Fundamentally, it means some form of action. Practices aren't required to produce anything, and may not have direct side-effects (from a project-perspective). However, they should be traceable back to principles and parameters defined for the methodology.

Some practices are merely high-level processes that have specific implementations. These specific implementations are still considered practices, but are merely organized to be concrete versus generic practices.
